L'importance de l'image corporelle de la femme sur sa sexualtité

When Food For Thought talks about sex in a hot summer night …
On my way to Cook&Book, which was going to host us for the last time before the summer respite, I was thinking about what was going to be said during this evening. As I was riding the subway, I noticed a classy woman in her mid 40’s answering a “Sex Quizz” in a famous women magazine. And that is exactly “it”: sex seems to be everywhere: on the radio, in the magazines … even at Cook&Book … even at Food For Thought!
When I entered the venue, I noticed that Sex was also going to be … on Belgian Public Television. Unusual wires, extra light, technicians and journalists: the RTBF was there to capture the moment, for an upcoming program. But why? Why would an entire TV crew gather around a subject on whom …everything has been said? Maybe because today’s idea was to bring something more, something new … something spicy! Everything? Are you sure?
When a man talks to women about their image
In her Introduction, Murielle Lona mentioned the old adage that “Les yeux sont le miroir de l’âme” … and that’s exactly how Iv Psalti, the orator of the night, could have started his speech. This 54 years old sexologist came as a neighbour (his practice is minutes away from Cook&Book) to talk to our guests about their sexuality. But first of all, he insisted on how important the image was. Self-image or image reflected by the lover; the more positive it is, the more fulfilled will be the intimate life.
Of course, the Medias tend to create a continuous run for youthfulness: but is really a woman at her full bloom at 20 and … elderly at 35? Our covers and screens are filled with those photoshopped bimbos. But beneath the former greenhouse of the venue of the evening, nothing like this! The crowd present was instead a “mature trendy blossomed mixed audience”. And that was an important point of the night: obviously, there were women, but men also dared to push the entrance door. After all, they are the other half the sexual life, no? Gentlemen, the next time Iv will come around … it might be to talk about you! Will you join us?
When women learned about their sexuality from a man
During the night, participants were told about how different are men and women about heir image: if a lady seems always tempted to exaggerate the interpretation of the grams gained on the scale, her darling will observe…and over-exaggerate the muscle noticed on his chest, … even if it is quite lost under folds of flesh !
Another interesting point was the distinction between “Sexophiles” and “Sexophobics”…The firsts can’t imagine a life without the sensual pleasure, while the others can live with few sex …or no sex at all. Guessing the question, Iv Psalti told us how to come out from the last category; you simply need to want it! And that’s not because you are in a post-menopausal phase or if you are a new grand mother that you cannot enjoy your sexual life!
When Albert Camus meets with … Dustin Hoffman
The evening was full of anecdotes and advises. It was also a large range of images. Food For Thought spirit was all over the place, and imbued in Iv’s speech. Where else could you hear, in the same evening, mentions made about plastic surgery, pregnancy or … Dustin Hoffman in Hollywood’s 1967 hit “The Graduate”? In this movie, there is an incredible demonstration of the power of corporal image! Let’s rewind and remember the scene: a young boy, played by Hoffman, is trying desperately to catch the waiter’s attention, and will be stunned by how tiny can be a move exactly aimed the same way, but made by a classy-confident woman.
Iv Psalti also quoted Albert Camus when he talked about charm: “Charm is a way to be answered “yes!” … without even asking a clear question”. And for him, charm can take the form of a wink, a smile, a look, or a posture. So, the moments in bed are of course important, but not everything.
When the night ended in a relaxed atmosphere
In the audience, there were couples, singles, men, women, friends group. All mixed, all drinking the words of the orator. The works presented in the bookshop seemed to have been adapted to the public: adult aimed, sexual games, in a word … books to be handed to everyone.
After fiery a round of questions, the discussions continued around some spicy bites, prepared by Cook&Book team, toasted with some nice wine. What a pleasant way to finish an evening! The atmosphere created a relaxed ambiance, where everyone could chat with the Man of the Night, and …let itself go to some smooth confidences! Some will even confess to the camera present …
It was the last night of the season; and we’re sure it might have given some ideas to the attendees... So, enjoy your summer!
